Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine care of patient with heart failure from the standpoints of learning needs, knowledge among hospital nurses.

Methods: The subjects were comprised of 211 nurses working in cardiology ward, Cardio Care Unit(CCU), Medical Intensive Care Unit(MICU). The instrument for this study was a structured questionnaire on learning needs and knowledge related to heart failure patient. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient.

Result: The mean score for learning needs was 4.10¡¾.51, for knowledge was 15.72¡¾1.80. There were significant differences in learning needs according to experience of teaching and knowledge according to working area.

Conclusion: Further research is needed to explore educational performance and should be reflected in the development of effective programs to enhance relevant nursing skills.
